Hello and Goodbye

Happy Blue Wednesday folks! While I’m thrilled another Blue Wednesday is here, for me, the time has come to say “au revoir” to this segment of Seeking The Narrow.

Blue Wednesday started with an unexpected bang about a year ago and had substantial participation early on, and I’m so thankful for that. But lately, participation is down and, frankly, the monthly publishing schedule just doesn’t have the excitement as the weekly did. I’ve been tempted to return to the weekly schedule but my gut is telling me to just let it go. It’s been really fun while it lasted, but I’m also admitting to myself that it’s okay to change. Newsletters are just like the rest of our lives; ever-changing and ever-adapting. Sometimes projects last. Sometimes they don’t. I don’t consider this a failure by any means. How could I? A strong core of folks collaboratively curated an incredible blues playlist with nearly 300 songs to enjoy. That’s a win in my book. But I also don’t want to be the guy “riding the wave” of success when the water is actually stagnant. Even good things come to an end.

Final Offerings

I have three songs to offer you on this final Blue Wednesday. I won’t go into song details or explain why I love them. These are simply blues songs I’ve loved for a while now. The first is a song that should have been added long ago! And of course, the other two come from the two artists possibly featured most on our playlist, John Mayer and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Enjoy!

Thanks again to all who have participated in Blue Wednesday. It really was a great time and I’ve discovered many new songs and artists along the way. And who knows, a stray Blue Wednesday session might pop-up on Notes (Substack’s homepage) every once in a while. Time will tell.
