About a month ago, I had an idea to begin a weekly series on Substack Notes called Blue Wednesday. The idea is for me to share a favorite song of the blues genre and to ask others to share their favorite blues tunes with me. It’s been so much more fun than I thought it would be and, thanks to a surprising number of participants, has introduced me to wonderful new blues music. So as a token of my appreciation, today I present to all of you the Blue Wednesday playlist on Spotify!
This collection features all the songs (I think) shared so far by all participants and will be updated weekly as more songs come in1. So for those who care, save this post or the link to the playlist because Notes, as great as it is, is not the best place for revisiting anything.
I may be able to create an ongoing playlist for those who prefer YouTube but time is limited and Spotify was my best option for getting this done in time for today.
Latest Addition
For today’s Blue Wednesday (11/01/2023) I’d like to share “Hummingbird” performed by the late B.B. King and John Mayer.
In this meeting of old and new blues B.B. is as soulful as ever and John Mayer adds his suave and confident guitar picking. It’s a song
and I have loved for a long time. Let me know what you think and share your Blue Wednesday tracks with me. This has become my favorite day of the week and I’m very excited to hear what new songs you all break out today. An Invitation
Now, I’d like to invite all of my readers now to join me on Notes. Even if you have no desire to ever become a writer, Substack is *the online space (IMO) to be an avid reader and Notes now serves as a beautiful gateway to that realm. Follow me (or not) and your other favorite authors to stay up-to-date on their work. I have no doubt you’ll either be inspired or become lost in deep thought.
Thank you all for reading and supporting me with your likes, shares and comments. I truly appreciate each and every one of my subscribers. May God bless you and keep you on this Blue Wednesday.
P.S. Shout out to
, , , and for being consistent supporters of Blue Wednesday. There have been other participants, and I’m grateful for them, but these guys have been involved most weeks and I’m thankful for their contributions and for making this series so much fun.If I’ve missed one, let those awares let me know.
