That is super disappointing to hear. I don’t have an account there but know some folks who do so will be passing this info along. Social media is such a minefield as it is, this will only make it worse.
I don't have one either but, like you, know people who do. I might have overreacted, but I sought a few of my friends at work who have teens in the house to give them a heads-up. It feels more and more like these companies are done hiding what they're really about.
Dude, this is wild. I think I had an account way back in the day. Never got the hang of it enough to make it fun, but I should go see if I ever actually closed the account or if it's just been floating around inactive. Thanks for the heads up. This is super disappointing.
I had one when I worked in TV news and, at the time, it was the best way to get information quickly. But I never commented on anything because I saw how utterly ugly it was at that level. But I deleted the account pretty quickly once I got out of that business. I can't imagine what comments will look like once this ramps up.
Yeah, gosh, what a nightmare. I enjoyed twitter screenshots that got shared on Facebook--it was kind of like a highlights reel without having to be part of the fray itself. But I just went though and actually deactivated my account because -_-
I mean, there was a family account on there that retweeted everyone who got the blind guess right of the Final Jeopardy category, there was one Twitter bot that randomly retweeted lines from Redwall's description of feasts....it's a crying shame.
As much as you can try to avoid writing about certain things, Derek, when you feel the promptings of the Spirit, you should respond. It really is our duty to try to counter the evil around us.
I got thrown off Twitter/X around the same time that President Trump was thrown off. I was kicked off for questioning the election. I’ve been told by X that if I delete 2 tweets I will be reinstated.
No thanks. I said what I said and I stand by it.
It’s disappointing that Musk is allowing this porn, but not surprising. As for children on X—Twitter was a sewer and I don’t imagine it has changed. My grown kids hate X, and my grandchildren aren’t allowed on social media.
I've been trying to remind myself since yesterday that, while it does somewhat feel like this was always going to happen, it's also okay to be a little sad about it.
Like obviously we're broken and this is the end result of this "nothing is real, everything is permitted" mindset. But it's also true, I think, that these are all still God's children and to see them harming themselves in this way is sad.

Doesn’t seem like an overreaction to me. And yes, no need to hide what you’re all about when disordered desires are becoming more and more accepted.

Good for you! And I didn't even think about the sharing across platforms.....
This could be really gross really quickly.
That is a shame. I left back in August, but even so. Twitter used to be a decent place, at times, and now...that is a shame.
I mean, there was a family account on there that retweeted everyone who got the blind guess right of the Final Jeopardy category, there was one Twitter bot that randomly retweeted lines from Redwall's description of feasts....it's a crying shame.
Can't have anything nice can we!
Indeed. What a piece of work is man, and all that.

What a dumpster fire, man.
The more I think about it, the less surprised I am.
Right on the money, Derek.

What a sad picture of the state of modern culture.

Thanks for posting, Derek. Seeking the Narrow, absolutely.
Hey you don't even need to be a Christian to find it awful and disgusting. I'll be deleting my account soon. It's a cesspit.
